Biography

Mollie Gass Bauer is a Partner at Thompson Burton PLLC, where her practice is focused on commercial real estate, finance, and development. She represents financial institutions, private lenders, developers, and investors in a wide range of real estate and lending transactions across the country. Mollie’s work includes structuring and closing complex real estate-secured and C&I loans, construction financing, acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, and commercial condominium regimes. She has particular experience in the creation and drafting of commercial condominiums, helping clients navigate the unique legal and operational complexities involved in shared ownership structures.

Mollie brings an energetic and creative approach to solving issues that arise in real estate deals, maintaining flexibility to get transactions across the finish line while ensuring professionalism and assertive client protection. She is a trusted advisor in the commercial real estate space, known for her responsiveness, creative problem-solving, and ability to guide clients through high-value, multi-faceted projects.

Her regulatory and administrative background also supports clients facing licensure or compliance matters. Mollie previously served as Assistant General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Health and practiced healthcare and construction litigation defense, experience that strengthens her ability to assess risk, anticipate challenges, and negotiate favorable outcomes.

Mollie’s role as a wife and mother enhances her ability to manage complexity, navigate high-pressure situations, and lead with both empathy and efficiency. These skills translate into the care and clarity she brings to every client relationship.

She is actively involved in the legal community and has held leadership roles with the Nashville Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, the Lawyers’ Association for Women – Marion Griffin Chapter, and the Belmont University College of Law American Inn of Court. Mollie has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America, as a Mid-South Rising Star by Super Lawyers for six consecutive years and was previously named to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s “Top 30 Under 30.”

A native of Greeneville, Tennessee, Mollie lives in Nashville with her husband, Walker, their two sons, Andy and Charlie, and their two rescue dogs, Sofia and Koda. Outside of work, she and her family enjoy park days, neighborhood adventures, and seeing where their boys’ imaginations take them next.
