Biography
Lauren Beth “LB” McCullum is a partner at Thompson Burton PLLC, who specializes in handling family law matters. LB and her team are adept at navigating intricate family law issues, which often involve dividing complex financial estates. Her interest in the financial aspects of family law, combined with her analytical skills and attention to detail, sets her apart.
LB understands that divorce is a challenging and emotional experience; as such, she is committed to guiding her clients through the process with compassion, empathy, and expertise. Known for her straightforward approach, LB builds trust and rapport with her clients, ensuring that they have a clear and realistic grasp of their cases. LB believes that educating clients provides them with the knowledge and security that they need to move forward in the divorce process with confidence.
While LB thrives in the courtroom, she also recognizes that optimal outcomes are most often achieved through clients reaching settlements that are finely tailored to their unique needs. LB is a skilled Rule 31 Mediator. Through her mediation training, she has developed a nuanced approach to negotiations, which allows her to assist litigants in reaching a favorable settlement agreement for their case. LB prides herself on being able to work collaboratively with other attorneys to resolve cases efficiently and cost-effectively, while simultaneously zealously advocating for her clients.
A proud native of Middle Tennessee, LB earned her law degree from Belmont University College of Law, where she served as Submissions Editor for the Belmont Law Review and Secretary of the Student Bar Association. She is now a founding member of the Belmont College of Law Alumni Council.
LB has established a strong reputation in the field, earning peer driven accolades such as “Best Lawyers: One to Watch” and “Super Lawyers Rising Star.” Before joining Thompson Burton, LB gained valuable experience through an internship with the Honorable Richard H. Dinkins at the Tennessee Court of Appeals and a clerkship with the Honorable Michael W. Binkley and Joseph A. Woodruff in the 21st Judicial District Circuit and Chancery Court. These experiences directly enriched her understanding of family law and have greatly strengthened her practice overall.
Outside of the office, LB enjoys spending time with her husband, Kenny, their two young children, and their two family dogs. She and her family love to travel and are the happiest when they are near the water or in the mountains.
